LAST MONTH'S NEWS LETTER
ARCA Minutes (2-25-2010) Edwin Smith
1. Meeting started at 7:00pm
2. No new members or guests were on hand.
3. Minutes from the January meeting were read and approved with no changes.
4. Treasurer’s report was read and approved – 100 members as of today.
5. Old Business:
a. Thanks given for the volunteers on the Feb 13th work day.
b. Next workday will be March 13, will do mowing and grass work.
c. New field rules were voted on-
i. Rule 06 passed with 14 for, out of 23 present.
ii. Rule 9A passed with 15 for, out of 23 present.
iii. Rule 21A failed with 2 for, out of 23 present.
d. Heli event report-
i. Christofe gave a report on sponsors and vendors for the event. Questions were brought up about hotel discounts. The discussion determined it probably wasn’t worth investigating since the event would probably not provide enough business for the hotel to justify an event discount.
e. Warbird event report-
i. Vendor donations are low, but have trainer raffle and warbird kit raffle. Will have to buy door prizes.
f. Jet Rally report –
i. Will have pilots raffle and spectator raffle.
g. Electric Festival event report-
i. There are commitments from many pilots for attendance.
ii. A separate foamy flying area will be setup on the north side of the field.
iii. TV advertising has been lined up.
iv. About 9 kits for prizes have been donated.
v. Still trying to arrange seminars for new electric pilots.
vi. A volunteer list will be posted on the ARCA web site.
6. New Business:
a. Runway repair –
i. Still getting quotes and looking at doing it our self. Crack filling quote was about $2400 just for runway maintenance type repair.
ii. Extra dirt will be brought in to fill in the ground area in front of the new pilot station fence area. This is to eliminate any gear damage from the old pilot pad extensions.
b. Event Volunteer Vests –
i. Morris Duet proposed having bright colored vests to identify event volunteers for event rule enforcement. The vest would be easy for registered pilots and spectators to acknowledge.
c. March ARCA meeting –
i. Will be the same day as the first day of the Electric Festival. It was proposed that we invite the registered pilots for our usual hotdog dinner before the meeting.
7. Blue Max:
a. Morris Duet carried over due to lack of interest.
8. Meeting adjourned at 7:50pm.
